Job 30-31

Several things jumped out at me this morning after eating Job 30-31. A couple verses jumped out at me inregards to music. Music can be used in mockery (30:9) and mourning (30:31). Job said that his "harp is tuned to mourning, and my flute to the sound of wailing." Did they know how to "tune" an instrument or better than that did they have rules for what music/sound should be based on - interesting. Job was bold about his righteousness. He challenged God to show him what he did wrong. Job even made a covenant with his eyes not to look lustfully at a women (31:1) and later says, "if my heart has been led by my eyes." Job also reminds God of how he took care of the poor (31:16)...which would have been close to God's heart.

Lord I want to be like Job. I don't want to live my life by how my eyes lead me, but rather I want to be led by my heart and the desires that You place upon it. Lord change my heart and let my heart break with the things that break Your heart. Give me compassion for the poor.
