Job 19-21

This morning I ate Job 19-21. Job must be SO frustrated. His friends keep trying to say that he must have done something wrong. They are determined to explain his troubles as the result of something he did. This makes me think of dogmatic Christianity that tries to explain things that we cannot or put limitations on God. Yes, there is truth. Yes, there is black and white. BUT, we are fallen creatures and we live in a fallen world. We do not know everything and we cannot be so proud to say that we have everything figured out. We must rely on the promises of God. Job said, "I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God. I myself will see him with my own eyes - I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!" This shows that Job had faith and he stood upon the promises of God.

Lord, help us to trust in you even when things don't make sense. Give us wisdom and truth to stand upon and fill us with your Spirit.
