The flood
This morning I ate Genesis 7-9. The story of the flood always fascinates me. I'm intriged by how it happened. I've been told explanations to it but I know they are only theories. Its fascinating to me that Noah took 7 of all the clean animals on board. Obviously God must have already made "rules" about which ones were clean and which ones were not. Noah already new about that. Then Noah's faith is impressive. He even sacrifices those animals TRUSTING that God would multiply them. Another thought I had today was this. The rainbow is an interesting thing. God placed the rainbow there to remind himself and to declare his covenant before everyone and everything. In our culture today, the rainbow is a sign for gay and lesbian organizations. Funny, that although God could easily destroy us with a flood again, he chooses to hold back his wrath in the form of a flood. But...his wrath IS coming and infact Romans 1 says that his wrath is being revealed from heaven against the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. Have we still not learned?
Lord help me to trust in you like Noah. Whenever I see YOUR rainbow may I remember that you are a God who keeps his promises and You are also the One who holds back His wrath. Thank You for Your patience with me.

I know--you are probably being serious on this blog and all--but...
Did you know that the story of Noah and the flood is also very influential to repeat and meditate on / talk about when you are in a 15 pax van on a long road trip and someone has to go to the bathroom? Especially verses like the opening of the floodgates, and the rain falling for 40 days and 40 nights...
hehehe
oh yeah long live long spacious times between bathroom stops
