calling upon the name of the Lord

This morning I ate Genesis 4-7 for breakfast. In some ways, I felt a sadness when I read it. It seems like everything went wrong. No wonder 4:26 says, "At that time men began to call upon the name of the Lord." Whenever I hear the phrase "name of the Lord," I think of Jesus. They were calling for a Savior. They needed someone to set them free from the havoc and chaos that sin had caused.

Lord Jesus I call upon you this day and at the beginning of this year. Come and save us. Set us free from our sins and bondages that we have chosen for ourselves. Come and walk with us and remove the agonizing loneliness that sin has caused. Come and teach us to be humble and remove the pride that separates us from you. Come Lord Jesus Come.
