God works through dummies!

I can't believe that God brought the promise through Jacob. He seems to be a liar and a cheat. Actually, most of the Bible characters at this point seem to be connivers and self-centered dummies. Rachel and Leach have this baby making contest. They even give their maidservants to their husband to conceive children for them (Same thing that Sarah did). Laban (Jacob's father-in-law) cheats Jacob into marrying his older less desirable daughter and then Jacob cheats his own father-in-law when it came to dividing up the sheep herd. The only redeeming characteristic of Jacob is that once in awhile he recognized God's presence. When he had the dream of the stairway to heaven he woke up and said, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it." I guess its a less for me that I must become more aware of God's presence and that God would even use me for his glory and his purposes. He even works through my failings and dumb choices.

Lord, open my eyes to Your Presence today and use me in any way You see fit.
