God speaks

I heard a message last night that really challenged me to listen to the Shepherd's voice. If I don't know it when God is speaking...then I've probably harden my heart to His Spirit. As I was reading this mornings reading I was reminded again that God speaks and that we must CONTINUALLY listen to Him. Abraham heard God's instructions to go and sacrifice his son Isaac and Abraham obeyed. Then as Abraham was about to sacrifice his son God said, "Stop!" Good thing Abraham continued to listen to God. Then there is the story about Abraham sending his servant out to find a wife for Isaac. It's fascinating to me that this unnamed servant specifically asked God to show him who Isaac's wife should be. Even though God didn't "say" anything to the servant the CIRCUMSTANCES and the EVENTS could only be explained as God's handiwork.

Lord, soften my heart to hear your voice. I'm sorry for allowing my heart to become hardened by sin and disobedience. Let me hear your voice and open my eyes to your handiwork around me. Thank you for your patience and I praise You because You are alive and real. You are not far off and I don't have to beg and plead to a god who does not hear. You are the One True God.
