Nu 16-18

In this morning's bread, I read about Korah and a bunch of other guys that tried to overtake Moses and Aaron's leadership. They didn't think it was right that Moses and Aaron should set themselves apart from the other Israelites. God consumed them with fire and their families, including little children were swallowed up by the earth. So God asks each tribe to bring a staff and put it before the Ark of the Covenant and to put their name on each staff. Aaron's stuff not only budded but it blossomed and produced almonds. Wow! That was fast. God was showing the people who he had chosen to lead as priest. I find it interesting that the priests did not share in the inheritance of the land, but God said that he was their inheritance. Isn't that better? Shouldn't we desire him as all we need for this life. I have a question about the "covenant of salt" (18:19). Not sure what that is. When it came to tithing the Levites were to tithe a tenth of what they received as well and that went to the priests. Did the priests tithe?

God, do not let me be proud or jealous of the leadership of other people. Lord, you choose different people with different gifts and abilities at different times. Do not let me stand in the way of what you are doing. Thank you for the people in my life who are leaders. Who go before others and live out their lives as priests and prophets. Lord, I want to follow and obey your people. Lord, I want to produce supernatural fruit. Like Aaron's staff I want the work in my life to not only bud but to blossom and produce fruit. I choose to remain in you so that I can bear fruit. To you be the glory.
