Ooops

I think I was so hungry this morning that I accidental ate tomorrow's breakfast. Hmmmm...not sure how I did that. :) Maybe because tomorrow is Sunday...I was supposed to gather enough manna for today AND tomorrow.

This mornings' reading was Number 14 and 15. Again the Israelites are raising their voices against Moses and Aaron. They don't believe they can take the land. God gets so angry that he is about to destroy them. But He quickly forgives them as Moses interceded on their behalf. Because they do not trust God they will not enter the promised land. For forty years they will wander until they all have died (except Caleb and Joshua). I'm always baffled and awed by the story of the man who was gathering wood on the Sabbath. The Lord commanded them to take him outside the camp and stone him to death. JUST FOR GATHERING WOOD! Then there is this passage about the blue cord that they are to put on their garments. Interesting.

When we disobey God in some ways it changes the future. We cannot receive the blessings he has instore for us when we do not follow his desires. We need to listen CAREFULLY to God - sometimes his commands and instructions are very detailed and they come to us quietly. If we are not stopping to listen...we cannot hear what God is saying above all the noise and the screaming of our flesh. The idea of the blue cord on their garment to me says - "you are mine." Blue is the color of the sky. Its the divine color, the color of glory, grace and the gods. When God asks them to tie a blue cord on their garments he is signifying that they are his. They are owned by the one who is divine. They too are holy and set apart. The chosen people.

Lord, help me to stop and listen. Help me to listen to the smallest of your instructions. Help me to hear all of your commands. Open my eyes and ears to see and hear you more. Lord, I am yours. Remind me daily that you have purchased me and have poured your grace upon my life - that the blood of Jesus, the God-man, covers my sin. Lord Jesus cover me with your grace. I am yours.
